On April 29, ....

...1997 (10 years ago today), the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction entered into force. According to its monitoring body, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, as of last year the Convention had 178 states parties, including the United States, and an additional 8 signatory states.
