On April 7, ....

... 1994, a day after the Presidents of Rwanda and Burundi were killed when their plane was shot down, mass killings began in Rwanda. Among the 1st victims was Rwandan Prime Minister Agathe Uwilingiyimana (pictured, left), the only woman ever to have held that post. The killings did not end for another 3 months; in that time, as many as 1 million Rwandans were killed.
... 1999, the World Trade Organization held in favor of the United States and against Europe respecting a protracted trade dispute over bananas.
... 2007 (today), the United Nations marks World Health Day in honor of the founding on April 7, 1944, of the World Health Organization.
