News flash: Supremes hold for detainees
Detainees at Guantánamo may challenge detention in U.S. District Courts
, the Supreme Court held this morning. Justice Anthony M. Kennedy wrote for 5 members of the Court: "We hold these petitioners do have the habeas corpus privilege."
The Court unanimously held in a separate case that persons held by U.S. forces in Iraq have habeas rights as well
.
