For those who might have missed it on the New York Times website, after several years' hard work, the paper's researchers Andrei Scheinkman, Margot Williams, Alan McLean, Tom Torok and Stephan Weitberg have compiled a searchable database of the Guantánamo detainees. Detainees are listed in alphabetical order with country of origin and status as held, transferred or dead. Since Camp Delta's inception, 779 people have been detained there, of whom "at least 520 have been transferred and approximately 250 remain, according to the Department of Defense. In addition, five detainees died while in custody. The Pentagon has declined to release a list of the detainees currently at Guantánamo." Bravo and thank you for all that hard work!
