On May 10

On this day in ...
... 2005 (5 years ago today), "a field of 2,700 concrete slabs near the Brandenburg Gate" in Berlin was dedicated as the Monument to the Murdered Jews of Europe. (photo credit) The event coincided with the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II (and the liberations of concentration camps, about which we've posted here and here, in Germany and other lands occupied by the Nazis).
