Go On! Rights, diversity at McGill

The McGill Centre for Human Rights & Legal Pluralism (logo below left) will host an international symposium, entitled The Global Conference on Human Rights and Diverse Societies, October 7-9, 2010, in Montreal, Canada.
Participating will be academics, writers, journalists, legislators, diplomats, activists, and others who work in the area of international human rights and on building, supporting, and studying diverse societies.
Topics to be discussed include:
► Challenges to the mainstream narrative of universality of human rights
► Conceptualization and implementation of human rights norms in diverse societies
► Alternative frameworks for solving global human rights issues
► Power of education to spur and combat hatred
► Media's role shaping public opinion and policy
► How real and perceived security threats have changed matters
► Role of human rights institutions
