On June 19

On this day in ...
... 1941 (70 years ago today), a girl was born into the family of a judge Paoay, Ilocos Norte, the Philippines. In 2002, she would become a judge on the country's highest court. Justice Conchita Carpio-Morales (right), who'd practiced at a law firm and in the Department of Justice before joining the judiciary in 1983, became "the first woman magistrate to administer ... the Oath of Office of a President of the Republic of the Philippines" when she swore in President Benigno Aquino III on June 30, 2010.
