... 1952, the International Court of Justice issued its judgment in Anglo-Iranian Oil Co. (United Kingdom v. Iran), in which Britain contended that Iran's 1951 nationalization of oil violated a 1933 lease agreement between the Iranian government and the British corporation now known as BP.
