Further to our prior post on "Chaos in Cambodia," we're pleased to note that David Scheffer, former Ambassador-at-Large for War Crimes issues, has been tapped by U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon to be a Special Expert to advise the United Nations Assistance to the Khmer Rouge Trials (UNAKRT) on the current crisis before the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC). This position was previously held by Clint Williamson, who also held the same Ambassadorship.
David also has a new memoir out (cover at left) entitled All the Missing Souls: A Personal History of the War Crimes Tribunals. His book tour is underway, and David will be swinging through Santa Clara on February 16th.
In addition, David, now on the faculty of Northwestern School of Law, will be joining the University of Oklahoma College of Law in fall 2012.
