On February 27

On this day in ...
... 1917 (95 years ago today), in Canada, women in Ontario secured the right the vote in provincial elections, but still could not run for a seat in the provincial legislature. "The struggle for female suffrage in Canada had started in Ontario, and was instigated for the most part by the Dominion Women's Enfranchisement Association," whose leaders included 2 physicians about whom we've posted, Dr. Emily Howard Stowe (1831-1903) (left) and her daughter, Dr. Augusta Stowe-Gullen (1857-1943) (right).
