... 1853, the 1st veterinary school in North America was founded by decree of Mexico's President Antonio López de Santa Anna. It operated for a number of years, with a few gaps, graduating 60 persons by 1914. The Mexican school beat Canada's 1st, in Guelph, by a decade, and the 1st in the United States, at Cornell, by at least 2 decades.
Today is el Día del Médico Veterinario Zootecnista in Mexico.
