

... 1976, the Framework Agreement for Commercial and Economic Cooperation Between Canada and the European Community, signed on July 9 of the same year, entered into force. It pledged most-favored-nation trading status and greater co-operation between the 2 parties. It further provided for a separate protocol between Canada and another early post-World War II intergovernmental organization, the European Steel and Coal Community.
