... 1992 (20 years ago), at Church House in Westminster, London, the parliament of the Church of England approved, by a 2-vote margin, legislation allowing women to be Anglican priests. The 1st ordination of a woman, Angela Berners-Wilson (right), would occur 2 years later. Earlier this year, the church advanced the process of appointment of women bishiops.
